The benchmarks showed that Multi-Core and Open-CL results were not only clearly lower than with the AMD driver but also lower than with the older Intel driver. I then decided to try out the current, newly-released Intel driver 18.2.2. Compared to the older Intel driver, the AMD Adrenalin scored slightly higher in Single-Core, lower in Multi-Core and was significantly better in the GPU-related Open-CL benchmark (Intel driver 87097 vs. I used Geekbench benchmarks to test the performance (not ideal but I had it installed). I've now tried three drivers for the GPU. Otherwise, the fact that AMD is officially supporting the NUC-speficic RX Vega M GH is enough for me to warrant using better drivers. I've been away from PC gaming for a many years but I do know that GPU drivers can make a huge difference which is why it is important to keep them up-to-date. As I understand it, the fact that RX Vega M GH is supported by Adrenalin drivers is somewhat recent change so it might explain why Intel has only optimized the older drivers (that as regular Adrenalin drivers did not support RX Vega M GH) and not the recent ones. It is possible that the Intel-provided AMD driver 18.2.2 is actually a more recent version of Adrenalin and not Adrenalin 18.2.2 but then again why would Intel use the same version numbers as AMD uses in their Adrenalin drivers unless Intel is basing their optimized AMD driver to the specific Adrenalin driver. The Adrenalin driver version of that driver was released a little over a year ago (later part of February 2018) and since then it has received 25 updates with the 19.2.3 being the 25th. I mean the latest Intel-provided driver is 18.2.2. They might update OS X drivers but as for Bootcamp/Windows, it is well-known that updating those drivers has been less of a priority for them (which has lead to people using 3rd party modded graphics drivers instead of the official ones). I guess the fear is that while Intel might regularly update its own NUC-regular components, they might not do the same for AMD graphics that can only be found in Hades Canyon. Well, many refer to Hades Canyon and other gaming NUCs as niche products. On the other hand, if newer drivers with better performance are available and the component manufacturers says they are compatible, why wouldn't you use them instead. Is there any downside in using Adrenalin drivers instead of the Intel-provided AMD drivers? On one hand, it's of course always best to rely on the drivers offered by the manufacturer. However, DSA is still giving me the green 'up-to-date' message. Intel's DSA program does recognize the Adrenalin drivers but informs me that I'm using custom drivers that in some cases can lead to compatibility issues. I've read that with these newer Adrenalin drivers there might be noticeable performance boosts in games so that's great. Everything went smoothly and there were no issues whatsoever. I uninstalled the Intel-provided AMD driver, rebooted and installed the latest Adrenalin drivers. I checked it and it is mentioned in the Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition Release Notes that RX Vega M GH is indeed compatible. In other words, you could forgo the older AMD driver (18.2.2) offered by DSA/Intel Downloads and get the driver straight from AMD's website (Adrenalin 19.2.3). I recently came across a post on another forum that mentioned that Hades Canyon/RX Vega M GH is currently supported by AMD Adrenalin drivers.
